Königswinter mit der Nibelungenhalle

Drachenfelsstrasse 107

About

The small town at the foot of the Drachenfels is called Königswinter. The name of the place comes from the Latin word Vinitorium, which translates into vinyard. Karl der Große once planted his vines here; and wine is still produced here today. There are also wine festivals held here during the grape harvest. Aside from the Drachenfels, the Nibelungenhalle is one of the area's landmarks. In this hall, which also has a small reptile zoo attached, there is a little museum, which shows exhibits from the German legends. The reconstruction of a dragon is particularly popular with the youngsters. Check website for timings.
