One of Naples's most historic restaurants, La Bersagliera has been managed by the same family for generations. Signora Elvira Chiosi, the current owner/manager, is the granddaughter of the original, 19th-century founder. Overlooking the yachts and fishing boats of the harbor at the Castel del' Ovo, the restaurant has kept much of its original decor and offers terrace dining in the summer. On the walls you'll see signed pictures of famous guests -- Sophia Loren, Tyrone Power, Omar Sharif, and Pavarotti (who even indulged in a little bel canto). The food is excellent, and the menu is centered on seafood: We recommend the tagliatelle Santa Lucia (fresh pasta with swordfish and artichokes) and the grigliata mista (grilled medley of prawns, shrimp, red mullet, and calamari). The highly professional, courteous staff is very kind to children, who can get highchairs and half-portions. There's a good selection of local wines, and a more extensive and expensive list of offerings from farther afield.
