La Ferme à Dédé

24 Rue Barnave

About

If you are cold and hungry, La Ferme à Dédé is a great choice in Grenoble's historic center. All the local specialties are on the menu--cheese fondue, chicken with crawfish, ravioles, and raclette with an old-fashioned machine where you have to scrape the cheese onto your potatoes. This always impresses visitors (and some locals too). The tables are close, the noise gets a little loud, and the decor is all wood and gingham--all of it a wink at the country France of yesteryear. While the restaurant lacks the authenticity of a real country restaurant, the hearty food is there and it tastes good. The wait can be a bit long, especially if you are used to American-style service, so if you are in a hurry, go somewhere else. Otherwise, pull up a chair, loosen your belt, and dig in!
