With a stately Victorian house as its setting, this restaurant is exceptional, offering fixed-price meals cleverly created with local produce. The menu changes daily (there is no a la carte selection), but starters might include spring onion and red cheddar soup or smoked salmon on a bed of cucumber ribbons with homemade chive dressing. Main dishes might include roast leg of lamb, breast of chicken with blue cheese and bacon wrapped in phyllo pastry, or Asian pan-fried salmon in tomato vinaigrette. Roast crispy duckling in orange and star anise sauce is a house specialty. There are modest rooms to rent here as well, if you cannot bear to leave (€170 for a double).
