Lettonie

Newbridge Hill Cuisines: English, French

About

Fine dining, sumptuous surroundings, two Michelin stars and impeccable service. Where's the catch As always, it's in the price. With A La Carte dining at £47.50 per person, an evening at Lettonie doesn't come cheaply. But the saying there's no such thing as a free lunch' - is not entirely true. Astute diners can join the 'Delete One' Scheme that will effectively delete one diners meal per party, cutting the overall cost of your bill. Even without this benefit, Lettonie offers excellent value for money for a special night out. The dining room is tastefully decorated and although rather formal for lively social gatherings, the atmosphere is perfect for couples and romantic dining. The service follows this theme, and is courteous and prompt. The food itself is a contemporary mix of French and English cuisine that has obvious origins in the nouvelle cuisine of the eighties although the portions are thankfully much larger! Vegetarians are catered for, but the menu leans towards white meat and seafood. Your food arrives, arranged beautifully on the plate and cooked to perfection. Sauces are as rich as the other diners, and desserts range from the calorie-laden to the somewhat lighter selection of homemade sorbets. Coffee and petit fours complete the meal. It is easy to understand why the men at Michelin have awarded Lettonie this ultimate gastronomic accolade.
