Located in the north-central part of the city, close to some of Quito's most important private universities, you can find the Centro Cultural Abya Ayala. The bookstore is part of this cultural center and it houses an Ecuadorian sound archive, which contains video and audio tapes with music, information and documents about the musical history of the country. There is also a great variety of anthropology, archaeology and ethnohistorical books as well as information and texts about Amazonian cultures. This is a comfortable bookstore where you can also find works of Latin-American literature. Abda Ayala is the best and most comprehensive bookstore of its kind in Ecuador.
