Librería de Las Madres -- Café Literario Osvaldo Bayer
At Ceballos
About
This combination bookstore and cafe offers what few places in Buenos Aires can -- the opportunity to speak with people whose family members disappeared during Argentina's military dictatorship. You'll also find young students who come here to study and continue seeking justice in this cause. The Madres bookstore is just to the side of the cafe, and it's full of books and newspapers on liberal causes from throughout Latin America. It also has one of the largest collections of books on Che Guevara anywhere in the world. An Argentine native, he is a personal hero to many of the Madres, and his image adorns walls throughout the building. In addition to books, there are posters, pamphlets, and other items here, all with a very socialist slant. It's open Monday through Friday from 10am to 10pm, Saturday from 10am to 8pm.
