Llechwedd is no ordinary museum! Set in 2000 acres of land above the town of Blaenau Ffestiniog, we’re a living, working slate mine that has been active since opening in 1836. So grab a hard hat and take a ride into the world of the Victorian Slate Miner on the Miners’ Tramway tour or plunge deep into the ground and explore the vast caverns on the Deep Mine tour. After exploring the underground, why not relax in the Miners’ Arms, enjoy a few traditional sweets from the shop or exchange some new money for old at the bank in the Victorian Village (All open Easter-Late Sept) Llechwedd Slate Caverns is open from 10am daily with tours running regularly.
