Madame Butterfly

Ipanema Cuisines: Asian, Japanese

About

While there's no shortage of Japanese restaurants in Rio (sushi being a huge hit with body-conscious beach bunnies), Madame Butterfly is the place to come if you are looking for superior food in sophisticated surrounds. Chef Marina Kuniy has come up with an innovative menu that veers away from the ubiquitous sushi cones and yakisoba. The pancakes filled with duck, shiitake mushrooms and orange sauce is a case in point. As well as a-la-carte options, the restaurant offers a good-value rodizio, (all you can eat, with waiters bringing a rotation of different dishes to your table) for less than R$50 after 5pm and all day during weekends.
