About

Dating from 1833, this temple features an entrance of colorful four-tiered crown and 38 relief sculptures of Gods and Goddesses plus four swans featuring the Hindu Goddess Mariamman in her many incarnations. Inside is housed the statue of the Lord Subramaniam, who leads the chariot procession during the annual Thaipusam festival. The temple's premises are usually quiet and serene, with the exception of the flock of pigeons that often visit the temple's facade and grounds. In the morning visitors can witness prayers and rituals conducted by priests but must first seek permission enter.
