About

Every available square inch of Mashiko Folk Craft holds a treasure from Japan. Most are antiques, such as a ladies mirror and cosmetic chest made of chestnut wood from the 19th century. Some, such as the Shibu Kusa Kiln tea cups made by only one family in Japan are modern but almost impossible to find in this country. Prices vary from a few dollars to a few hundred but there are some real bargains. They include ceramics from the oldest folk potter in Japan, also named Mashiko, which are exquisite both in form and execution.
