National Mosque Al Akbar (or so-called Mosque of Surabaya ) is the mosque 's second largest Indonesian located in Surabaya.National Al-Akbar Mosque Surabaya built since the date of August 4, 1995, on the idea of Surabaya Mayor at that time, H. Soenarto Soemoprawiro. Mosque construction is characterized by groundbreaking by Vice President Try Sutrisno . However, due to the financial crisis temporarily halted construction. In 1999, another mosque was built and completed in 2001. On 10 November 2000, this mosque was inaugurated by President KH. Abdurrahman Wahid .
