Mei Long Zhen first opened in 1938 and is often touted as Shanghai's most famous Chinese restaurant, an icon of Shanghainese cuisine. It is also a historical site having housed the headquarters of the Chinese Communist Party in the 1930s. The interior still reflects the neo-traditional Chinese heritage.
