Mesón Blas Casa

Albaicín Cuisines: Spanish

About

On its choicest square of the Albaicín, this old favorite is staunchly traditional and housed in an antique structure that was once a private home. It's now been successfully converted to this relatively undiscovered dining room decorated with wooden furniture and tile floors. When the snow starts falling, the fireplace is lit, and the place is enveloped in a warm, cozy ambience. The chef consistently turns out delicious garlic-studded lamb or leg of pork from a wood-burning stove. The signature dish is swordfish Mosarabe (with prunes, dried grapes, pine nuts, clams, and shrimp). Another intriguing platter is antología de salmón y gulash (a goulash of salmon au gratin). That classic local dish rabo de toro (oxtail) also appears.
