Mikado, 10350 109 St NW, [41]. The original, now lamentably closed, was the first Japanese restaurant in Alberta. The downtown location is a little noisy in the open center area, but a tatami room can be requested if you want privacy and quiet. The food style is a mix of traditional Japanese and offerings of nouveau Japanese cuisine (Dragon Eyes, Mango Tango Roll, Sushi Pizza). Reservations are wise on key nights, or be prepared to wait. Note: there is a second Mikado in South Edmonton Commons.
