About

The Telegraph Track on Moreton Island National Park lets you explore the most natural of the large sand islands located in Moreton Bay's sheltered waters. This hilly track passes through woodlands and heath and is great for bird watching. See the remains of the telegraph line that serviced the lighthouse along the track edge. Walkers can enjoy distant views out to sea and to the Cape Moreton lighthouse. Walking in soft sand can be very tiring. Wear sturdy shoes, a hat and sunscreen. Always carry drinking water. It can get very hot on Moreton Island, so walking is best done early in the morning or late in the afternoon. Enjoy the wildflowers in spring and look for migrating humpback whales in late winter and spring.
