Mr. Baba

On the beach at Morska Gora (about a block south of the Panorama Hotel) Cuisines: Seafood

About

Artist/teacher Stella Canfield, a Bulgarian national who divides her time between her homes in Seattle and Bulgaria and sponsors groups on painting trips to Bulgaria, told us that she takes all her visitors to Mr. Baba, her favorite restaurant in Varna. Mr. Baba's tables are in an atmospheric, wooden schooner permanently anchored in the harbor and the seafood couldn't be fresher. It is the ambience that makes everything taste so good, especially if you ask for an outside table on the upper deck with views of the beach and sea. The menu lists a nice array of salads, a long repertoire of grilled seafood, and even crocodile with prosciutto and pepper. A tall but entertaining tale about the Mr. Baba responsible for the restaurant's recipes is printed on the menus.
