About

The Dara Pirom Palace was built after King Rama VI gave his permission to Princess Dara Rasamee to return to her childhood home city of Chiangmai after King Rama V passed away. Princess Dara Rasamee had used this palace to perform many good deeds in the fields of agriculture, culture and arts. She also supported Buddhism and was a major influence in developing Lanna's handicrafts which has been Chiang Mai's heritage of pride until today. She had also founded an experimental plantation in the name of "Suan Jao Sabai" because of her interest in agriculture and anticipation to help Northern Thai farmers. She had grown several new rose breeds which she had received from English Rose Institute.
