About

The Gallery will also present a touring exhibition Federation to Federal Capital 1900-1913 that will bring together major works by iconic Australian artists such as Tom Roberts, Arthur Streeton, Hans Heysen and Frederick McCubbin. These treasured landscapes are rarely seen outside Canberra. As Sir Henry Parkes passionately pushed for Federation, artists were inspired by, and charged with creating major works that conveyed the visual splendour of 'Australia'. The Gallery will also partner with the Royal Academy in London to present the first major survey of Australian art (1800 to the present) in 50 years—an exceptional international presence for Canberra in its Centenary year.
