The National Sports Museum at the MCG houses Australia's most comprehensive sporting collection, showcasing more than 3500 objects related to the greatest moments in Australian sporting history. Located at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground, the National Sports Museum celebrates the contribution that sport has made within the development of the uniquely Australian culture. The achievements of Australian sportsmen and women at all levels are showcased within an environment rich with sporting artefacts and interactive technology.Showcasing the great moments in Australia's sporting history, the museum includes a number of permanent exhibitions focused on Australian football, boxing, basketball, cricket, cycling, golf, thoroughbred horse racing, netball, Olympic and Paralympic Games, rugby union, rugby league, soccer, and tennis. Also featured is the Melbourne Cricket Ground story and the Melbourne Cricket Club Museum and National Sports Museum Cinema Sport features non-stop sporting action.The National Sports Museum at the MCG also includes two three dimensional theatrical experiences with Australian cricket legend Shane Warne in 'Cricket Found Me' and Australian football star James Hird in 'Off the Bench'.Game On is a fully interactive gallery allowing you to personally experience the thrill of participation in a diverse range of sporting environments and activities. More than just a museum, the National Sports Museum at the MCG captures the spirit of Australian sporting life and relives the moments that have shaped Australia's rich sporting traditions and cultural heritage. Content: National Sports Museum Adult Child Prices are for children between five and 15 years old. For Melbourne Cricket Ground major events including but not limited to the Australian Football League Grand Final, Day one of the Boxing Day Test and ANZAC Day football, entry to the National Sports Museum will be restricted to those patrons holding a valid event ticket. On other Melbourne Cricket Ground event days, hours of operation will vary and impact on the time available within the museum designated opening times will be promoted on their website. The National Sports Museum is a short stroll (approximately 15 minutes) from Federation Square over the Yarra River via William Barak Bridge to the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Trams 48, 70, 75 can also take you there. The entrance to the National Sports Museum is located at Gate three. For any further information please contact National Sports Museum at the MCG. Closed Christmas Day and Good Friday. Hours of operation vary on days when events are being held within the Melbourne Cricket Ground arena. Please check our website for more information on event day hours of operation. Daily10:00am -5:00pmWith last admission at 4pm. The National Sports Museum accommodates individuals and groups of all access abilities. Lift and, or ramp access is available between all levels. The National Sports Museum participates in the Carer Card Program offering free of charge access to carers. Museum audio tours are available in Auslan for the hearing impaired. It is always recommended to contact them in advance to arrange any special access requirements.
