About

The Nenagh Silent Film Festival celebrates the art of silent film and film making through a four day festival, which also acknowledges the great Hollywood pioneer Rex Ingram. This Hollywood legend viewed his first moving pictures in a visiting circus to Nenagh in 1901, when Ingram was then residing in the town as a young boy. Fifteen years later he was in Hollywood and already on his way to becoming one of the most influential film directors of the silent-era. Continuing on from the inaugural Nenagh Silent Film Festival during 2013, this year's event will also include some Valentine's Day events. A number of modern silent film productions will be premiered at the 2014 festival and a Masked Ball will be held on Valentine's Night. There will also be a number of classic silent film screenings, workshops from some top professionals of Irish television, and the festival parade with an array of creative costumes from young and old. This Valentine's Weekend, love the Nenagh Silent Film Festival!
