About

In 1999, a group of concerned monks in Burma started the Best Friend Education Project to provide uncensored information, allowing free discussion and providing resources to study world languages. But after the "Saffron Revolution" in 2007, the Burmese military cracked down and sent many of the monks to prison for "providing access to information." Some of the monks escaped to Thailand and opened libraries there, including this one. The library has a café and provides literature and media in English on Burma and Burmese issues. Nong Bee's restaurant cooks up Burmese curries and other favorites which are otherwise hard to find in Thailand. -Scott Johnson
