Oui Bistro & Wine Bar

283 Bannatyne Avenue Cuisines: American, French

About

Simultaneously old world and contemporary, Oui Bistro has the elegance and sophistication of a classic French dining room but with updated food and friendly, energetic service. In a historic Exchange District storefront, Oui Bistro is a jewel box of Belle Epoque mirrors, golden drapes and deep-blue walls, but this is no food museum. Chef Tristan Foucault dusts off classic French cooking to rediscover the fresh tastes and textures behind the great standards of Gallic cooking. Salt cod fritters are drizzled with chive oil, and seared foie gras appears on cinnamon pound cake, topped with apple compote and garnished with a fig and port reduction. Main courses include all your French favorites -- mussels prepared three ways, beef bourguignon, cassoulet with house-made duck confit and garlic sausages -- but enlivened with lighter preparations and the best of local ingredients.
