About
Pacific Marine Mammal Center originally began as "Friends of the Sea Lion" in 1971 by two lifeguards, Jim Stauffer and John Cunningham. The first patient rescued was a harbor seal, that Jim rehabilitated in his home bathtub. When word spread that he had success with this harbor seal, Jim soon found that he needed a larger place to help sick and injured seals.
