About

If you're looking for a Hungarian novel to read while in Budapest, you won't go far wrong with Ferenc Molnar's The Paul Street Boys, published in 1907. It's a children's book, but adults love it as well. The novel conveys the atmosphere of Budapest around the turn of the last century wonderfully. In the novel, Pal utca (Paul Street) is the location of a secret playground at the back of a lumberyard. Today that playground is gone, but if you've read the book you will feel the need to see this street. You can buy the book at almost every bookstore that sells novels in English.
