Parque Das Ruinas was restored at the end of the last century for use as a cultural center and occasional outdoor music venue, but it is the weekend breakfast with panoramic views of Guanabara Bay and Sugarloaf Mountain that attract the local Santa Teresa residents time and again. Recently modernized, the menu is straightforward and provides all you would expect from a Brazilian breakfast – fruit, lots of coffee and cake, as well as sandwiches and omelettes. As night falls over the city you can unwind after a hard day exploring the beautiful hilly neighborhood with ice cold beers, wines and caipirinhas. - Doug Gray
