It is traditionally told that the burrito was born during one of the most significant battles in Mexican history, the Mexican Revolution. Legend has it that a street vendor selling tacos, needed something to keep his tacos warm as he transported them through the growing battlefield. His solution: instead of open tacos he wrapped the contents in large tortillas, both preserving their heat and making them easy to transport.
