About

Architects Cuypers and Hulswit established this Dutch Reformed Protestant church between 1913 and 1915. It was originally known as Gereja Baru (The New Church) before being renamed Gereja Ayam (The Chicken Church) due to the rooster figure on the rooftop. The building still retains its original architecture, although the pipe-organ was replaced in the early 1990s. A Bible dated 1855 is kept in the pulpit. The church also finances the attached home for the elderly.
