About

The Historic Port of Echuca precinct is an authentic working steam port, home to Australia's largest fleet of steam-driven paddlesteamers. Although its major commodity has changed from wool to people, Port of Echuca still operates much the same as it did in the 1860's, with the shipwrights and steam engineers providing a vital role in the Port's operations today, just as they would have in the late 1800's. Your admission ticket includes a one hour guided tour along with all day access to cargo shed museum, guard's van and breakdown van, paddlesteamers, wet dock, overhead footbridge, wharf constructionas wll as a steam display with original steam pumps and engines. Working displays operate Saturday, Sunday, Public and school holidays, so please come down and view the spectacular steam and firework display. While visiting you can also view the steam traction engines and evens sawmill, shipwrights and paddlesteamer Success. When in the area see the Star Hotel and visit the illegal underground Bar and escape tunnel used in 1897 to avoid police or upstairs at the Bridge Hotel where you can discover facilities offered to travellers in 1859.
