About

PUIG DE MISSA DESCRIPTION Santa Eulària’s locals built a church on a hill to protect themselves from the pirates that assaulted the bridge, but the church was destroyed after several attacks. It was reconstructed in the middle of XVI century, this time with the features of a fortification. The church tower also dates back to the XVI century, being one of the oldest in the Pitiusas. It is documented that it had two bronze cannons and two lookouts in the XVIII century. After the second half of the XVII century, pirates’ assaults nightmare began to melt away and the church original structure could be finally enlarged. Porxos (porches) were added, becoming the places where the locals met during the town’s festivities. Going for a walk through the cobbled streets of Es Puig de Missa must include a visit to the small and nice cemetery, which offers magnificent views. Also in Puig de Missa you can visit the Ethnographic Museum, in the Can Ros casa payesa. Apart from this lovely traditional house, the visitor can contemplate in this museum a vast collection of tools, objects and clothes representing Eivissan rural world.
