Punarjani Traditional Village is located at the second mile Pallivasal. It is a co-operative venture by a group of artists based in Munnar. The Punarjani means rebirth and the purpose of this venture is to preserve or rejuvenate the cultural heritage of Kerala. Punarjani is mainly promoting two traditional Kerala art forms; 'Kathakali' the classical dance drama and 'Kalarippayattu', the mother of all martial arts. Every day shows of each art form are arranged for a one hour duration. The Kathakali performance starts at 5 pm and kalarippayattu at 6 pm. An entry fee of INR 200/- is charged per head for all those above five years of age. If one reaches ÂÅ" an hour before the Kathakali show, the step by step make-up of the artists also can be watched. The Kathakali performance is full of intense acting and facial expressions where as the Kalarippayattu is based on actions and thrills. Kannan Devan Tea Estate, Blossom International Park, Kundala Dam and Mattupetty are few of the nearby tourist attractions. November to May is the best time to visit Munnar
