About

In the heart of the Burren region of County Clare in the town of Ballyvaughan the Quinn family and their ancestors have been involved in the retail business for almost a century. ‘I wish to see heavenly things’ is the motto of the Quinn family crest. George Quinn, the current owner strives to stock ‘heavenly things’ and has always presented genuine Irish made gifts from quality craftsmen and women in his shop. Quinn’s Craftshop stocks a number of unique products from individual craftspeople and artists including quality knitwear and the traditional Aran hand knits. Irish fashion designs and accessories have been carefully selected and the shop carries a wonderful range of local pottery and ceramics. The selection of Irish made silver jewellery pieces make attractive and affordable gifts. Other items on sale include prints and sculptures in bronze and bog oak. There are plenty of books on the Burren region and County Clarein in stock.Ballyvaughan village where Quinn’s Craftshop is located is situated between the hills of the Burren and the southern coastline of Galway Bay. Ballyvaughan developed as a fishing community in the 19th century. A castle site and Celtic ring fort hint at earlier habitation of this sheltered bay.Today this community welcomes visitors to the Burren region. Each year botanists and naturalists roam this lunar landscape searching for the Arctic, Alpine and Mediterranean plants which grow in profusion over the limestone pavements. The Burren is renowned for its archaeology. Ballyvaughan is surrounded by megalithic tombs such as Poulnabrone Dolmen, Celtic ring forts, medieval churches and castles.
