The first rig point in Johannesburg at the time of the gold discovery. From here all other points in the city were measured. Its the only remaining beacon, its the northern point of the triangle made by Boundary road, End road and diagonal street, within this place the first settlements were allowed to be built during the gold rush in the late 1880's
