Rare and Recent Books is a literature lover’s heaven, located in Cong, County Mayo. The family-owned shop is based in the village’s Old Dance Hall, next door to the post office. It specialises in books of Irish interest but also carries a large selection dating from the 17th century to the present day. At Rare and Recent, visitors can troll the shelves for new, used, out of print and antiquarian books. There is a bargain section for the casual reader and true literary gems for serious collectors. Customers will also find a well-stocked kids’ corner. Rare and Recent Books is happy to place special orders for titles they don’t currently stock, and they also sell online.
