Designed by architect P.J.H. Cuypers and built in 1876, Amsterdam's Rijksmuseum is the largest museum in the Netherlands.After a long period of restoration, the Rijksmuseum reopens in spring 2013 and is one of the major milestones of the Amsterdam 2013 celebrations. Opened on 13 AprilOn Saturday 13 April 2013, the Rijksmuseum was once more opened to the public with an entirely refreshed layout, fully renovated building, new public facilities, newly landscaped garden, and Rembrandt's 'The Night Watch' returning to its original gallery. Overall, 80 halls display 8,000 pieces of art and history, which is more than even the most fervent museum visitor can digest in one day.
