The River Cherwell flows into the River Thames or Isis in Oxford. At the bottom of High Street down the side of Magdalen College and just before Magdalen Bridge you can hire punts. Going punting is an adventure. If you are an expert you can impress your friends and the rest of Oxford as they watch and you smoothly power the punt either north up the Cherwell or down towards the Isis. However, if you are a novice you will be challenged to stay on board and not fall in. You may get soaking wet and tired. Either way it is a great hour or two. Take strawberries and cream and champagne and stop off in The Parks for a picnic.
