The River Deele is traditionally known as an excellent sea trout river however it also gets a reasonably good run of summer salmon from early July. The Season is from 1st April to 20th October.Mepps spinner or bait methods are most popular on the river. Fly-fishing is not popular but some stretches will suit this method. The most popular stretch of water is from the town land of Gobnascale downstream to Convoy. A guide can be arranged for almost all of the fishing by enquiring from the permit distributors or the Professional Angling Guides & Instructors Network.There are tackle shops in nearby Lifford and Strabane.
