About

The name of this park was given by H.M. the Queen, which literally means "the park of the Queen who is the great benefactress". The area originally was "the Bangkok Special Prison" dubbed as "Criminal Prison". This 103-years-old prison was built in the reign of King Rama V who sent a chief to Singapore to observe its design. The Rommaninat park was a commemorated project of Ministry of Interior for H.M. the Queen on her 5 th  Cycle Birthday on 12 August 1992. The Corrections Museum inside the park displays instruments of punishment and evolution of punishment in Thailand.
