On the 24th floor of the Crowne Plaza, the revolving La Ronde offers the best views of any restaurant in Edmonton. The Alberta-focused menu also puts on quite a show -- chef Jasmin Kobajica is passionate about local organic meats and produce, and his menu is rich in Alberta-raised beef, lamb, and game prepared with a focus on indigenous flavors. Local bison rib-eye is served with prairie mushrooms and wheatberry potato cake, while pork medallions are served with native blackberry jus. A number of Albertan cheeses appear as starters. The intensely regional menu makes a brilliant companion to the ever-changing, revolving vista of city towers and river valley. But be warned: You're paying for the view as much as the meal, and some of the dishes fail to impress. Stick with the simple stuff and you'll be satisfied.
