Santander is characterized as a cultural hub , which in exchange with other institutions , promotes the integration of the region to the global art circuit . Located in a building of neoclassical architecture , built between the years 1927 and 1932, the site housed the headquarters of the National bank of Commerce and Southern Brazilian and was listed by heritage . The project of restoration and adaptation transformed the old building into a cultural center , keeping intact the original spaces in dialogue with contemporary interventions . The main intervention of the project was the creation of an atrium in the ancient well of stained glass lighting , about 40 meters above the central hall .
