Science East

668 Brunswick St

About

Children will enjoy a visit to this science center for two reasons: First, it's located in the old county jail, a sturdy stone structure built in the 1840s. (It was still being used as a jail as late as 1996.) And then there are the great exhibits -- more than 100 interactive displays indoor and out, including a huge kaleidoscope, a periscope for people-watching, a solar-powered water fountain, and a minitornado. It's an ideal destination for a family on a chilly or rainy day, and there's plenty to do in the outdoors portion on nice days, too -- a garden of native New Brunswick plants is in the works, for example. If you have kids, this place is easily worth up to 2 hours of your time.
