About

The Sea Turtle Protection Society of Greece, or "Archelon" was one of the first Sea Turtle rescue centers in the Mediterranean. The municipality of Glyfada and the Greek Railway Organization provided the space for the group to give medical treatment and rehabilitation to approximately 50 sea turtles per year. They also spend a considerable amount of energy educating the public on the caretta caretta or "Loggerhead" turtle, listed as an endangered species. Protecting nesting zones and reducing the mortality rate at sea are among the highest priorities of these conservationists. Visitors can view sea turtles on their last stage of rehabilitation on weekends from 11am-5pm.
