Shantaleswara Temple

Halebeedu, Hassan District, Karnataka, India

About

Shantaleswara Temple, begun in 1121 by King Vishnuvardhana, they took roughly 100 years to build but were never finished. The carvings done on the walls are so intricate that they feel like carvings on wood rather than stone. Wall panels showing Shiva, Krishna, Nataraja and Ravana are worth looking out for. The seated Nandi in front of the temple is magnificent.
