Sigiriya is an ancient  palace  located in the central  Matale District  near the town of  Dambulla  in the  Central Province ,  Sri Lanka . The name refers to a site of historical and archaeological significance that is dominated by a massive column of rock nearly 200 metres (660 ft) high.
