Songir is located in the Dhulia Taluka, which is believed to be the major town of Songir Sub division. On abolishing, Songir was incorporated in the district of Dhule in 1820. This town is famous for an ancient fort, whose entrance gate has the inscription, which states that son of Mansingh, Ugrasen, was very brave. This fort comprises an ancient well and an old reservoir along with the ruins of an old water system that is believed to be existed at this place.Songir fort has entrance of stone with inscriptions which states Ugrasen, son of Mansingh was very bravea.The fort also has fine old well, reservoir and ruins of water system.
