Located on the outskirts of Spiddal Village, Co Galway, Spiddal Holiday Homes is a collection of four self-catering apartments and 23 Connemara style traditional holiday cottages. This complex is approximately 10 miles west of Galway City. The cottages are located on seven acres of extensively landscaped grounds, overlooking Galway Bay and offering panoramic views of the hills of Clare, the Burren and the Aran Islands. Visitors will enjoy the beauty and easy access to Connemara’s coastline with gorgeous sandy beaches nearby. Complex amenities include two tennis courts, two playground areas and a games room. The main playground is close to the reception building and includes swings, slides, carousel, rocking boat and climbing frame. The second play area is smaller and designed with the younger children in mind. It includes swings, a sand pit, slide and a small climbing activity frame. The indoor games room offers table tennis and pool tables. Table tennis bats and balls are available at reception. This holiday accommodation also offers visitors access to the main visitor attractions and places of interest nearby, including Spiddal Craft Shop, Kylemore Abbey, The Aran Islands, The Aillwee Caves, The Cliffs of Moher, Galway City and the Burren. As for activities, visitors can choose from sea and coarse angling, golfing, hiking, horse riding, as well as windsurfing, sailing and a plethora of other water sports.There are four types of cottage with each interior blending authentic tradition with modern day comforts and conveniences. Type one, the Faoileán cottage is four star, has four bedrooms and sleeps eight. The three star Crutach also has four bedrooms and sleeps eight. Both the Spideog and Smolach cottages have two bedrooms and sleep four. Two of the Crutach cottages are suitable for wheelchair users with a bathroom on the ground floor offering a roll-in/roll-out shower with grab bars. Cottages have a fully equipped kitchens with cooker, fridge, dishwasher, washer/dryer and microwave. They also offer dining/living rooms with open fire.There are also four apartments located in a separate building close to the reception. They are all self-contained with a private kitchen and bathroom/shower room facilities. Reception is open from 9am to 11am and 5.30pm to 7pm from Monday to Saturday. On Sunday it’s open from 9.30am to 11am. There is a payphone on site. Barbeques are available at reception and babysitting can be arranged throughout the season. Shops, supermarkets pubs and restaurants are located nearby in Spiddal village. Wheelchair friendly.
