About

Stanley Park is a 1,001-acre public park that borders the downtown of Vancouver, Canada, and which is almost entirely surrounded by waters of the Pacific Ocean. Its land was originally used by Aboriginal peoples before it became a military reserve in the mid-1800s, when British Columbia was colonized by the British in 1858. Shortly after, when the city was established in 1886, the land was turned into Vancouver's first park.
