Sumilon Island

Sumilon Island, Philippines

About

Liloan is at the southern most part of the island and is a small peaceful place. During March and April, divers can expect to swim alongside a lot of Whale Sharks, Dolphins and Manta Rays. Antenna Point and Marine Village House Reef are best for beginner divers. You can expect a lot soft and hard corals and plenty of normal-sized tropical fish including Scorpion Fish and Snake Eels. Liloan also has a Ferry wreck and only ideal for experienced technical divers. The ferry sunk unexpectedly and not a typical diver's wreck. It lies on its port side in over 50 meters of water, easily the largest one around the area. Solo divers can join the team certified for technical dives. Sumilon Island is 30 minutes east boat ride from Liloan Island, a piece of heaven for open water and advanced divers. It has 4 major dive sites, Garden Eel Plaza, Nikki's Wall, Coral Landscape and Julie's Rock. This island is known to be the first marine sanctuary established in the country. During December and May, divers can expect a good variety of Pelagic, Manta Rays, Tuna, White Tip and Hammerhead Sharks and on rare occasions some Whale Sharks. There are plenty of caves, overhangs, large rocks and plenty of corals around this area.
