Swiss Club

90 El Gehad St., off Sudan St., Kit Kat Square, Imbaba

About

The Swiss Club is tucked away down a side street just off Sudan street, on the border between Mohandiseen and Imbaba, and is spread out over surprisingly green and extensive gardens. Offering homely Swiss fare (check out the potato, cheese and onion Rosti!), beer and shisha, the Swiss Club is a great place to while away a few hours, especially if you sit outside near the Banyan tree! You don't need to be a Swiss national to get in, though you will have to pay a nominal entrance fee of 10 LE. Every Thursday evening, the Swiss Club puts on one of Cairo's most popular dance nights: a mix up of African beats, RnB and Hip Hop. It's 50 LE to get in, and you can grind away with the mixed, sweaty masses of Egyptians and foreigners till the early hours. The Swiss Club is also a popular place to watch important international football matches, and also puts on festivals such as Oktoberfest.
