Promising an endless spectrum of contemporary European fare, Tessa lives up to its own hype, and then some. From the appetisers, indulge in pan-seared foie gras, very crispy on the outside and smooth within, served with fresh mango, avocado, wine sauce and salad. The tangy, succulent fruit complements the liver perfectly. As a main course, grilled Australian rib-eye steak is tender and succulent, but slightly oily; red wine gravy gives it some extra flavour. Braised Australian lamb shank is served with fettuccine and sauteed vegetables and is another must-try. A further house speciality is hot corned beef with boiled potatoes. Most of the dishes are served in large portions, making them ideal for sharing with friends. If you still have room for dessert, the best choice is probably warm chocolate cake, served with vanilla ice cream and smothered with chocolate sauce.
